Unofficial election results show Democrat incumbent Rep. Joe Neguse was reelected to a fifth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, defeating Republican challenger Kelley Anne Dennison.
The Associated Press called the race at 7:34 p.m. Neguse holds more than 75% of the vote as of 11 p.m. Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Colorado Secretary of State.
“It is truly an honor to earn the trust and support of the people of the 2nd District — from the Western Slope to the towns and farms across Northern Colorado,” Neguse said in a statement. “It has been the honor of my life to serve our great state in the United States Congress, and I am incredibly proud of all that we have accomplished together. I’m excited to continue representing our community so we can keep working — together — on building a more hopeful future for our state and our country.”
Neguse, a Boulder Democrat, is currently serving his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was elected to the seat in 2018, replacing then-newly elected Gov. Jared Polis.
The Center for Effective Lawmaking ranked Neguse as the most effective lawmaker of the Colorado House delegation and the second-most effective House Democrat in 2025, having authored the second-highest number of laws of any House member during the 118th Congress.
Looking ahead to his fifth term, Neguse has said he would continue his work protecting Colorado’s watersheds, rivers and public lands, in addition to expanding wildfire mitigation work, advocating for immigration reform, helping drive down costs in the state and “ending the pervasive corruption in Washington, D.C.”
Filings with the Federal Election Commission show Neguse had raised more than $3.3 million and spent $2 million by the most recent reporting deadline prior to the election.
Colorado’s deeply blue 2nd Congressional District covers much of north-central Colorado, encompassing Boulder, Larimer, Jackson, Jefferson, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Eagle, Grand, Summit, Routt and Weld counties.
Neguse’s seat — which has no term limits — has been held by a Democrat for more than 50 years. The district’s last two presidential elections have leaned 20% more Democratic than the national average, according to the Cook Partisan Voter Index, making it the 56th most left-leaning district nationwide.
