Andrea Teres-Martinez is a reporter based in Garfield County covering education, business, public safety, and equity and immigration. She is a regional reporter for the Colorado mountain newspaper group that includes the Post Independent, Aspen Times, Summit Daily, Vail Daily, Steamboat Pilot & Today, Ski-Hi News and Craig Press.
Having grown up in Boise, Idaho, Andrea joined the Glenwood Springs Post Independent in 2023 as its assistant editor, where she covered city government, development, housing, Latino affairs and more.
Before moving to Colorado, Andrea interned as a publishing editor for The Wall Street Journal in New York City through the Dow Jones News Fund. Prior to moving to New York, she wrote for the Idaho Stateman’s business desk as a reporting intern.
Andrea’s reporting work has been recognized by the Idaho Press Club, which awarded her the awards for best serious student feature and editorial in 2021, and second and third place awards for best agriculture report and general news story in 2022.
Andrea is a graduate of Boise State University, where she worked as the editor-in-chief of the university newspaper, The Arbiter. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in integrated media and strategic communications, and a Top Ten Scholar award.
When she’s not working, Andrea likes to read, try new recipes, and explore some of Garfield County’s hidden charms.
