Letter: Two people deserve a big thank you for their work for United Way

It is with great pleasure that we announce the two United Ways in the valley have merged to become United Way of the Yampa Valley. Before we move on, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the wonderful support we have received from two Moffat United Way employees.

Heather Fross, executive director, has been with the organization for a little over a year and has done amazing work. She was instrumental in helping the merger progress to finalization. Thank you, Heather.

Karen Stillion has been a part-time employee since 2021 who was responsible for administering the Community Service Block Grant (CSBG), federal funding for those struggling under 200% and now 125% of the Federal Poverty Level. Karen’s attention to detail and compassion for those struggling has been a shining light in Moffat County. We appreciate all that Karen has done to complete the CSBG requirements. Although United Way of the Yampa Valley will no longer administer the grant, the funding will stay in Moffat County. Thank you, Karen, for your support and excellence in your work.

We wish both Heather and Karen the best in their next chapters.

Kate Nowak
Executive director of United Way of the Yampa Valley
