This small coal mine — amid sage brush — was located directly south of Lay, Colorado circa 1910, and was known as the Wallihan Coal Mine.

In July of 1997 a group looks at the one foundation that was poured at Wantland Townsite in about 1910.  Site is approximately two miles below Powder Wash Bridge on County Road 4 on Little Snake river Moffat County.
