To the Editor:
I don’t know how dumb our Moffat County commissioners think we are, but I am writing to let them know that their attempt to bring our library director under fire for personnel issues while trying to take control of the library budget makes their agenda more than apparent.

I do not know why our county suffers the financial crisis it does. But I have no intention of sitting idle while our commissioners attempt to take over our library budget to use as a daily slush fund for the county and control and approve expenditures from that budget like it were their personal expense account. Maybe the ones who really need an annual review are our commissioners.

It occurs to me that this problem may be exactly why the county advisor recommended hiring a manager — to take the county commissioners out of our county budget and make it the responsibility of a person whose job depended on its success.

Get off the back of our library director and get your sticky fingers out of our library budget. We have a library board whom we trust with these decisions.
