U.S. 40 closed near Maybell

U.S. Highway 40 is closed in both directions between mile marker 60 and 11 in Moffat County due to a wildland fire.

In a statement posted on Facebook around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office said that firefighters are on scene “with more assistance on the way.”

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, U.S. 40 is closed between Blue Mountain and Maybell.



The U.S. Bureau of Land Management dashboard shows the wildland fire, called The Twelve fire, was discovered Wednesday around 3 p.m. and was reported at 1,000 acres as of Wednesday evening.
