The Crosho Fire in South Routt County was 100% contained at 2,073 acres Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team.

“For the last two weeks firefighters have worked day and night minimizing spread of impacts to the communities surrounding the Crosho Fire while protecting values at risk,” states the news release. “Due to their tireless efforts, containment on the Crosho Fire is 100%.”

“Wyoming Team 6 wants to thank the communities for their support of the team and the firefighters,” the release continues.

Command of the Crosho Fire will return to the U.S. Forest Service at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The cause of the fire is still unknown, according to the news release. No structures were damaged or destroyed in the fire.

Heavy rain on Monday helped containment efforts but slowed progress on backhaul and suppression repair operations.

Portions of the Routt National Forest remained closed due to the Crosho Fire as of Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday morning, 112 firefighting personnel were on the scene with five engines, one water tender, one dozer and one hand crew.

All equipment was removed from the fire line, including a helicopter sling load of water pumps, fuel and collapsible tanks. Heavy equipment continued repairing containment features on Tuesday.

Crosho Fire evacuation zones remained under “Ready” pre-evacuation orders Tuesday morning. Evacuation orders will continue to be assessed as clean-up operations and suppression efforts continue.
