Sports briefs for May 9, 2011: Maybell bike event open for registration
Craig Parks and Recreation’s 25th Annual “Where the Hell’s Maybell?” bike ride is now accepting registration.
The ride will take place May 21 and registration is free.
There are two departure times — 7 a.m. from Northwest Storage, 4295 W. Highway 40, and 7:30 a.m. from Western Knolls.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary, a free “Where the Hell’s Maybell?” shirt will be given out to the first 200 registered riders.
A $6 breakfast, which includes pancakes, bacon, eggs and orange juice, will be available at the end of the ride.

Bull’s-eye pistol shooting Thursday
The Bears Ears Sportsman Club is hosting a bull’s-eye pistol shooting practice every Thursday starting in May and continuing through August.
The range is located north of Craig off of Moffat County Road 7.
Practice will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and shooters will need to bring their own .22 pistols.
There will be instructors for one-hand and two-hand practice on a 25-yard match course.
The first night is free for new shooters, and every sequential practice will be $2 per shooter.

Register for beginner fly-fishing lessons
Craig Parks and Recreation will be hosting a beginner fly-fishing lesson at 6 p.m. May 24 and 5:30 p.m. May 25.
Expert instruction will be given on the basics of knot tying, casting, presentation and what equipment it takes to get started.
The fee for the lesson is $15, which includes an instructional manual and flies.
