Scam information tops agenda for official visit
Attorney general to be in Craig Friday
People concerned about being taken advantage of by financial scams will have an opportunity to be informed on the subject Friday.
Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar will visit Craig from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunset Meadows Senior Citizen assisted living center.
The attorney general will discuss senior fraud. His talk will be based on a conference he is attending in Denver today which addresses the subject in detail.
The purpose of Salazar’s speech will be to enhance and develop additional strategies for combating financial fraud against the elderly and to get the word out to potential vulnerable seniors so they can protect themselves and are more aware of exploitation that takes place.
Salazar will discuss such things as the profile of an elderly victim, the role in law enforcement and state and local protection agencies in addressing elder fraud, and detecting and reporting this type of fraud.
According to Ken Lane, the attorney general’s press secretary, Salazar is looking forward to his visit.
“The attorney general is excited to be visiting Craig,” said Lane. “He believes his address should be both informative and beneficial to the community.”
