Summer’s most colorful morning returns on August 1 as Memorial Regional Health hosts the Flying Colors 5K Fun Run/Walk. Held in conjunction with the Moffat County Hot Air Balloon Festival, the event welcomes participants of all ages to enjoy a relaxed run or walk through Loudy Simpson Park and along the Yampa River, with vibrant color powder, fresh air and community fun around every turn.

“This fun race is a perfect way to bring the community together during one of our town’s favorite weekends,” said Jennifer Riley, CEO of Memorial Regional Health. “Our participation exemplifies Memorial Regional Health’s commitment to fostering a healthy, vibrant community. We’re thrilled to be part of this weekend, bringing people together for fitness, fun and colorful celebration.”

The race environment will be filled with excitement as hot air balloons ascend through the sky. Live music will keep spirits high as participants cross the finish line. With plenty of photo opportunities throughout the event, everyone is encouraged to stick around for even more colorful surprises at the post-race festivities.

Not up for the full 5K? No problem! The One-Mile Fun Run is perfect for kids, families or anyone who just wants a shorter, equally fun experience

This year’s Flying Colors 5K is made possible in part through the support of RAS-Col (Rural Alliance Addressing Substance Use Disorder — Colorado). Through their partnership with Memorial Regional Health, the event helps advance Population Health initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen community well-being and support prevention efforts across Northwest Colorado.

The annual Moffat County Hot Air Balloon Festival is scheduled for the first weekend in August and offers two days of activities and vendors, including early morning balloon launches as well as a balloon glow demonstration on Friday evening. The 5K Fun Run/Walk enhances the weekend where friends and family gather for a day of fun, fitness, and fantastic sights at the untimed event.
