The Colorado Department of Transportation announced U.S. Highway 40 was reopened in both directions around 2 p.m. on Friday. The pass was closed in both directions just before 11 a.m. Friday due to a “vehicle recovery,” according to CDOT.

Troopers with Colorado State Patrol performed an agency assist in response to the incident, which involved a CDOT snow plow going off of the road, a patrol spokesperson said Friday afternoon.

During the closure, traffic was re-routed to Colorado Highways 131 and 134 (Gore Pass).
