On Tuesday, Ancestors Treasures celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony with representatives from the Craig Chamber of Commerce.

The consignment shop and co-selling space opened in early June, and it has enjoyed a steadily increasing stream of interest throughout the summer.

The brainchild of owner Stephanie Etzler, the shop features both rentable booths and a consignment area. The booths are available for month-to-month leases, allowing sellers to showcase resale items and their own creations. The consignment area houses a wide range of unique individual secondhand items on offer.

Etzler spent the past two years developing the concept for her store. It has been modeled after a shop she visited in Wyoming, but Etzler tailored the details to suit the Craig location.

Her storefront at 115 W Victory Way is well-kept and welcoming, inviting curious customers to step inside, and it adds another bright spot to one of Craig’s busiest roadways.

Etzler shared that one of her favorite parts of her new venture is watching beloved pieces find new life. She said that often clients will find the experience of reselling items bittersweet; the items evoke deeply personal memories and attachments, but no longer have a real place in the seller’s life.

She’s always pleasantly surprised when someone will later walk into the shop and discover the item, exclaiming with excitement that it’s just the thing they’ve been looking for.

On hand to celebrate Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting for the shop with Etzler were her son, Kyle Perez, who handily constructed the wooden walls for the booths, and Reagan Bower, her niece and a valued employee.

In the coming months, Etzler has even more plans for the shop. First up, Ancestors Treasures will host a Chamber of Commerce Mixer on Sept. 7. Then Etzler hopes to host another sip and shop event and some seasonal experiences throughout the year.
