Seven candidates will be the November ballot vying for four seats on the Moffat County School District Board of Education.

The four school board seats up for election this cycle are for Districts B, C, D and E. There will be seven candidates vying for those seats — two each in Districts B, C and E, and one in District E.

The candidates for school board in District B are Kacey Lyons and Meghan Francone. Lyons is the incumbent, having been appointed to the position in the middle of the current term.

The candidates in District C are Steve Martinson and Valerie Bolton. The lone candidate in District D is Paula Belcher.

The candidates in District E are Laura Woodworth and incumbent Chris Thome. Thome serves as vice president of the board and, if elected, would serve his third and final term before reaching the three-term consecutive limit.

The school board oversees district activities and finances. It approves, among other things, the annual district budget, strategic plans and policies, and holds the district superintendent as a direct report.

Election Day is Nov. 7.
