Moffat County’s future could profit from its history
Sometimes innovation has deep roots.
Such is the case with Wyman Living History Ranch that Moffat County resident Lou Wyman is pioneering.
Wyman has a collection of old vehicles, equipment and oddities that celebrate the region’s history and more.
In the next few years, Wyman hopes to put these items on display at a living ranch, which he hopes also will feature old buildings, include an extensive welcome center, a restaurant and a ranch with exhibits demonstrating how life was on ranches in Moffat County in the early 1900s
When the site opens it will be located east of Craig on the south side of U.S. Highway 40.
If it comes together as planned, it is sure to complement the displays of Museum of Northwest Colorado.
The heritage of Moffat County is rich and projects that continue the celebration of those roots should be encouraged. The idea of a living history ranch builds on the strong historical presence that continues to bring tourists to Northwest Colorado.
Not only could Wyman’s ranch serve as a popular tourist attraction, it could be a great educational tool for local students and future generations as well.
We encourage area residents and local governments to support this project however they can.
Wyman and his wife, Paula, should be commended for their efforts and investment to bring this project to fruition.
