Moffat County neighbors

Name: Ron Kruczek
Occupation: Veterinarian

When and why did you move to Craig? In 1977, four months after I graduated from Colorado State University, my wife and I decided to buy Dr. Bruce Cottrell’s year-old veterinary practice and make Craig our home.

Who is your favorite political figure? Ronald Reagan

Who is your hero and why? I admire many individuals for their contributions to the fields of science, medicine, arts and sports, but all have their flaws; probably only Jesus rises to the level of hero in my eyes.

What is the most rewarding part of being in Moffat County? The wildlife: deer, antelope, elk and the occasional moose, often right inside Craig city limits; lions, coyotes, bears, cranes, pelicans and eagles.

What is the one thing you would change about your life if you could? I would like to have more time for travel.

What is the one thing you would change about Moffat County if you could? More cultural, recreational and transportation amenities, such as a rec center with an indoor shooting range, a four-year college with a music department and dorms, and a commuter train between Craig and Steamboat Springs.

What’s the one thing about Moffat County that you hope never changes? That our government never gets so intrusive as in cities such as Denver or Chicago with all their silly gun laws, pit bull bans, etc.

What is your favorite food? Czarnina with kielbasa served on a bed of kapusta surrounded by pierogies, or any other food that goes well with beer.
