That’s a wrap on the season for Moffat County girls basketball.

The Bulldogs, seeded 24th in the 4A CHSAA State Championships brackets, fought to the finish Friday night against the ninth-ranked D’Evelyn Jaguars, ending the winter with a 52-35 loss on the floor of Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette.

MoCo girls had their strongest showing of the game in the second quarter, coming back from a 19-8 opening frame to get within four points of the Jaguars as the scoreboard showed 31-27 at the break.

However, the D’Evelyn defense doubled down in the second half, holding the Dogs to 8 points in the third quarter and scoreless in the remaining minutes of the game.

MCHS finished the season 14-10 as well as runners-up of the 4A Western Slope League, going 8-2 in conference play.
