The past weekend saw solid results for the members of Moffat County High School and Craig Middle School’s distance running teams.

MCHS boys won Friday’s Coal Ridge Invitational, with the Bulldogs led in the 5K race by senior Haven Carr and freshman Jonas Pressgrove, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively, at VIX Ranch Park in New Castle.

MCHS girls placed ninth as a group, with Hayden sophomore Sydney Wattles leading at ninth individually (20:57), with freshmen Layla Bolton and Abby Fraher close behind at 24:04 and 24:27.

CMS likewise earned good results at the Coal Ridge meet, with seventh-grader Elise Lenker winning the 3K middle school girls event at 11:16. Teammates Piper Schnackenberg, Finley Pressgrove, Emma Virden and Ella Fross locked up sixth through ninth to ensure a team victory.

CMS boys were runners-up in the event, with the Bulldogs led by Jetten Weeldreyer in third and Kaden Kuberry in fourth, with Jhafeth Martin-Duran ninth and Dante Salas 10th.

Both MCHS and CMS teams will next compete in the Moffat County Invite Saturday, Sept. 27 at Loudy-Simpson Park.
