This week is Homecoming for Moffat County School District. It’s a time to wear your Bulldog gear, to show up to school in goofy, themed outfits, and to cheer on the fall teams. It’s also a time to connect with old friends and classmates, to line Victory Way for the best parade of the year (we think, anyway!) and to grab some candy for the kiddos.

But in Moffat County, homecoming is about more than just school spirit. Homecoming is a moment to come together and celebrate what makes Moffat County so darn great. It’s about reveling in the uniqueness of a community united by more than geography. It’s about taking joy in what makes us us.

This week, when you’re attending the sports and events (schedule below!), and when you’re rejoicing on the sidewalk as the floats parade by, take a moment to look to you left and to your right. Do you know how rare this is? Do you know how special it is to be able to look around a crowd and know this many of the people you see? Moffat County is close-knit in a way that’s hard to duplicate. We are truly blessed to be among friends and neighbors wherever we go.

And if you don’t feel like that means home to you, what can you do to take the spirit of Homecoming and elevate it in your life and in the lives of those you see every day. What difference does a held door at Maverik make? What difference does a returned cart at City Market make? What difference does a smile as you’re walking in and they’re walking out from one of our great restaurants make? What difference does a chat in the waiting room at the MRH clinic make? If you’re looking for home, let the spirit of Homecoming remind you that home is what we make of it.

Moffat County is great because we make it great. Moffat County School District is great because we make it great. It’s about people. That’s what Homecoming is. So whether this is your new home or your old home or your for-now home, what can the spirit of Homecoming bring you this year?
