MCSD Whiteboard: Feedback critical in high school principal search
MCSD Whiteboard
Moffat County School District has entered a critical moment in its history, as we prepare to say goodbye to Moffat County High School principal Ryan Frink after this school year, and the District works to find its next high school leader.
Mr. Frink has been a wonderful leader for our Bulldogs, both at Ridgeview Elementary and most recently at the high school. We’re sad to see him go but grateful for his sake he’ll be moving closer to family. We’re excited to celebrate the Class of 2025 with him, and then will wish him great success in this next part of his journey.
Meanwhile, the search is underway for the next great leader at the high school, and we’re excited for the opportunity to collaborate with our community and find a great new principal.
That process is underway. Last week, the community met with district leadership at the MCHS library to discuss priorities for the school’s next principal. We heard all kinds of feedback, including a priority on great leadership, a commitment to relationships, and a deep focus on student learning.
Some attendees discussed at some length the value of growing the high school’s profile as the center of the Moffat County community, which is something we believe in strongly as well. The investment in our new high school gym is a big part of that, and it’s the district’s sincere hope that the glory days of Moffat County High School community are coming back.
Others discussed involvement in the community outside the school, and we believe in that, too. A third subject of common focus was the importance of culture building inside the high school, something the district also sees as a priority.
It’s so good to hear from our community on these subjects. This week, we’ll send a survey to parents that will help us collect more data as we make this crucial hiring decision. We’ll also meet with staff this Friday morning to discuss their priorities for the high school principal.
The plan is full transparency and deep collaboration. That’s how this district operates under the leadership of Superintendent Mathew Neal. We’ll continue this path until we undoubtedly hire an excellent next principal for Moffat County High School, and then we’ll keep moving forward under the same process with other decisions and critical moves.
Thanks to those of our community who joined with us to discuss what matters most in this critical position, and we look forward to receiving further feedback and input as the process continues.
