MCSD Whiteboard: A graduation celebration
Moffat County School District has been growing in a lot of areas lately, and we’re so proud of it. Today, we’re especially pleased to announce that our hard work from Pre-K through 12th grade has been paying off in the form of more students graduating from Moffat County High School than anyone can remember in recent history.
The state department of education recently certified the MCHS graduation rate for the 2024-25 school year as 89.9% — higher than we’ve experienced in many, many years. Two years prior, the graduation rate was just 76%, followed by a jump to 86% in the 2023-24 school year. That means that in two years the district’s four-year graduation rate has increased by more than 13 percentage points. That’s a monumental achievement.
Moffat County School District isn’t just about the numbers, of course, though some numbers tell an important story. We’re also about quality of experience, which leads to quality and preparedness of graduates.
Our MCHS graduates have high-level opportunities in many different subjects, including of course focused work in the core subjects of mathematics and english/language arts, as well as the sciences. But we also provide graduates with agricultural education, physical education, sports and activity opportunities, and of course the arts.
Graduates from MCHS are prepared for the workforce or the next set of classrooms. They are prepared for the world of adulthood. They are prepared to begin to give back to the community that has given them so much.
We’re extremely proud of our MCHS graduates. These Bulldogs have worked hard for 12 or 13 years, and many of them have achieved great things beyond their diploma. Many more of them will achieve great things after receiving their diploma, too, including military service and college degrees, as well as entering the workforce ready to contribute and grow.
This number, though attributed primarily to the high school, is a testament to teachers and staff from Pre-K and up. These incredible educators and education supporters are responsible for compassionate and skilled work from a future graduate’s first day at school to his or her last, and without that effort, they wouldn’t be where they are today.
If you see a MCSD staffer or teacher today, please congratulate them on the hard work that led to this incredible result. The growth is just beginning, but we’re proud of every step we’ve taken.
