Local law enforcement assisting Wyoming authorities in Carbon County ‘critical incident’

According to a news release from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Department, local law enforcement officials are assisting their Wyoming counterparts in what is being called a “critical incident” near Baggs.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to avoid travel in the Bagg’s area, due to several road closures, and a heavy law enforcement presence in the area.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol reported that troopers are responding to reports of shots fired north of Baggs in Carbon County and asking the public to avoid Highway 789 between I-80 and Baggs.



Responding Colorado agencies include the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Routt County Sheriff’s Office and the Steamboat Springs Police Department.  

Requests for information from the Moffat County Sheriff’s Department had not been received as of 7 p.m.
