Little Britches for ‘pokes of all ages
Bring on the clowns, bulls and kid-sized four boots.
The annual Little Britches Rodeo began today at 9a.m. at the Moffat County Fairgrounds and will continue through Sunday.
With more than 130 contestants, the rodeo consists mainly of the future cowboys and cowgirls of America from ages 8-18. There also is a little wrangler division for those five to seven years old and Saturday night there will be a senior rodeo.
“This is for the little ones to get out there and be like the grown ups they watch,” said Dianne Brannan, co-coordinator the rodeo.
According to the Brannan, the Craig LBR is one of the largest in the national circuit, which is celebrating its 51st year in existence. She estimated that the Craig LBR has been in existence for approximately 35 years.
The divisions are juniors from age 8-13 and seniors from 14-18.
The overall winners will receive a saddle with each event placer winning rodeo bucks that can be spent at the local businesses that sponsored the event.
There will be all of the same events as a regular rodeo. The T Triangle ranch will be the stock contractor out of Cedaredge.
The cost of the event is three dollars a person or $10 a person.
