Letter to the editor: 96 apartment units under consideration near Woodbury Park
The city of Craig is considering building a 96 unit apartment complex on the NE corner of Mack Lane and 2nd St. This is approximately 2 blocks from Woodbury Park.
The traffic along Mack Lane will increase substantially as will the number of people using Woodbury Park. As parents of the children who use the playground, the baseball, soccer, basketball and football fields, you need to be aware of this proposed apartment complex. Children walking, riding bikes, scooters etc. along Mack Lane to get to Woodbury Park will face a lot of traffic. Is Woodbury Park going to be a safe place for children involved in activities there?
Other considerations: Is there a need for a 96 unit apartment complex in Craig? If so, is there a better location for this complex?
A public meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. at City Hall at 300 W 4th St. in Craig. The meeting will be to consider a recommendation to the city council to approve or deny the planned apartment complex.
If you are interested in this proposed plan you are urged to attend this meeting where public comment will be available. You may also comment in writing to the Community Development Department at 300 W 4th St. or by email to meckhoff@ci.craig.co.us
On Tuesday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m., a separate public hearing will be held at City Hall when the city council will approve of deny the plan. Public comment will be accepted at this meeting also.
