Colorado State University, in conjunction with The Colorado Wool Growers Association, will be hosting a sheep shearing school this spring through its Moffat County Extension Office.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 12-14 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds’ hog barn.

The registration fee is $275. It covers all instruction, livestock and equipment expenses for the class. Daily lunches and refreshments are also included.

The three-day session will provide hands-on, instructional experience using hand-held electric shearers and professional shearing machines. Instructors will also cover shearing trouble-shooting and the basics of equipment overview, maintenance and repair.

Shearing equipment will be provided and available for use. Space is limited, and participants should reach out to organizers for permission prior to bringing additional personal equipment.

Instructors Doug Rathke and Anthony Steinfeld have a combined 70-plus years of shearing experience and have led many shearing schools together.

Register at Bit.ly/49nON3U. Questions can be directed to Megan Stetson at megan.stetson@colostate.edu or 970-826-3402.
