Memorial Regional Health is offering asthma education for all ages including information about inhalers and how to take other respiratory medication correctly. Education on chronic respiratory illnesses including asthma and COPD and how to live with the disease.

Refreshments will be provided. Bring your inhaler and respiratory medication to the workshop that will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop, Craig.

Life Line Screenings offered May 13

Residents living in and around the Craig can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening.

Screenings check for:

• level of plaque buildup in your arteries, related to risk for heart disease, stroke and overall vascular health

• HDL and LDL cholesterol levels

• diabetes risk

• bone density as a risk for possible osteoporosis

• kidney and thyroid function

Screenings packages start at $149 and consultants will work with to create a package based on age and risk factors.

Screenings will be held on May 13 at the Assembly of God Church at 1150 E. Ninth St. in Craig.

Yellow fever vaccine may be temporarily unavailable

The yellow fever vaccine, recommended or required for travel to some areas of South America and Africa, is in very short supply and may be temporarily unavailable in some areas of the U.S. Anyone planning travel to an area at risk for yellow fever transmission should contact the travel clinic at Northwest Colorado Health as soon as possible to verify the vaccine is available. Moffat County households are saving big on health insurance

Moffat County households are saving an average $700 a month on health insurance purchased through Colorado’s health insurance marketplace — Connect for Health Colorado. That’s higher than the state average household savings this year of $369 a month and higher than the $637 in average monthly savings in Rio Blanco County and the $623 in monthly savings for people in Routt County, according to an analysisan analysis released by the state health insurance marketplace. released by the state health insurance marketplace. an analysis released by the state health insurance marketplace.

Savings come in the form of a federal tax credit applied to monthly insurance premiums for qualifying individuals and families who enroll in health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado. Overall, Coloradans received $318 million in tax credits in 2016.
