Many older adults are at a stage in life where they do not require skilled nursing care, but they no longer can, or want, to live alone. Assisted Living offers the best of both worlds. Community members have as much independence as they want with the knowledge that personal care and support services are available if they need them. Having Assisted Living available in our community allows our neighbors to stay close to loved ones, and the people and places that are meaningful to them.

The Haven is a nonprofit Assisted Living in Hayden and has been serving the Yampa Valley for over 25 years, providing a caring, peaceful and affordable home for adults 55 and older.

On Sunday, Oct. 5, The Haven will host its fifth annual OctoberFest fundraising event from 3:30-6 p.m. on the back patio and in The Haven Community Center. This event has become a local favorite as we kick off fall, with fun for all ages.

The Haven OctoberFest features a silent auction with great local items (including Broncos tickets), delicious food, beverages from Storm Peak Brewing Company, live music with Apple Pie and A Guy, pumpkin painting and outdoor activities for the whole family.

Tickets include food, 1 drink (beer or non-alcoholic) and activities, and are $12 per individual (non-alcoholic option), $15 per adult, $25 per couple, and $40 per family (max of 2 adults per family). Children 5 and under are free. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit The Haven, a Northwest Colorado Health Community, providing a safe place where older adults can experience joy and connection, and most important of all, are treated like family.

“We are dedicated to providing our residents a warm and welcoming home where they can thrive with grace, dignity and comfort,” said Miranda Barrett, RN, Director of The Haven Assisted Living. “I am honored to lead our team in providing exceptional care and support to the remarkable individuals who call The Haven home. I invite our neighbors to join us in celebrating OctoberFest and support our work providing an affordable assisted living option for older adults in our community today and in the future.”

Assisted Living is most beneficial for those who just need a little extra support so that they can remain independent, but with the peace of mind that professional caregivers are available 24 hours a day to provide compassionate care and can help with performing daily tasks when needed.

Assisted Living communities differ from nursing homes in that they don’t offer complex medical services. The Haven Assisted Living is currently full and accepting applications for our waitlist, but we welcome potential residents and their loved ones to come in for a tour to see what makes The Haven so special. To schedule a tour please visit havenseniorliving.org or call 970-875-1888.

To purchase tickets for OctoberFest, please visit haveseniorliving.org/octoberfest or attendees can purchase them at the door on Oct. 5. Sponsorships are also available, with levels ranging from $100 to $1,000.
