Girls basketball dinner raises $900
The Moffat County High School girls basketball team served the 4-H buyers dinner at the Moffat County Fairgrounds in conjunction with the livestock sale Saturday evening.
The team did so in an effort to raise money for an upcoming trip to the Nike Tournament of Champions, being held in Phoenix, Ariz. from Dec. 18 to 21.
The tournament, which is regarded as the most prestigious high school tournament in the country, will pit the Bulldogs against some of the best teams across America.
The Saturday event raised $900 for the team, and with other fundraising events coming up, the Bulldogs will be well on their way to Arizona.
“Our parents have been really helpful in getting us organized,” said junior Angie Charchalis, a varsity team member. “Coach (Craig) Mortensen has been really supportive, too.”
During homecoming festivities this fall, the team will be holding a ball drop and a chili dinner. The winner of the ball drop will receive $1,000. Balls cost $10.
