Few details released concerning joint sheriff’s office, CDA probe
KC Hume, an investigator with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, said Wednesday he could not elaborate on a joint probe between the sheriff’s office and Colorado Department of Agriculture.
Hume, who cited the investigation’s ongoing status, said releasing more details could have negative consequences.
“If we were to release any additional information, it could potentially affect our investigation negatively,” Hume said. “We hope to present a case to the (14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office) by the end of this week or the first of next week.”
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office announced the joint investigation via a news release.
According to the release, the sheriff’s office was contacted July 22 by a representative of the Department of Agriculture’s Brand Inspection Division, citing possible violations to Colorado Revised Statutes regarding the branding and herding of cattle and procedures with estrays.
