Faith Column: The Lord is our help
Faith Column
The scriptures plainly show us that the Lord is our help.
Heb 13:6 — So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”
He is our help.
The scripture clearly writes He is our Help. But that is not what we tend to write with our lives. That is not what we see in the environment we live in.
To look at a life as a docudrama, we would see everything but the Lord as a person’s help. We see, most look to anything and everything else before turning to the One that has described Himself as our helper.
Do we not live in a day and age where everything is seen as a help but the Lord?
Most will turn to everything tangible, touchable, buyable, consumable and practicable but not turn to the supernatural that has told us “I am your help.”
It is a sad truth that in our times of trial and need, He is usually the last resort.
Heb 4:15 — For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 — Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
In the Bible, it is full of men and women that are surrounded by the plans of the enemy, natural and supernatural.
The testimony is always that the Lord was their help. They did not do it on their own.
They did not deliver themselves from the ones encompassing them.
Psa 94:17 — Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
Unless He helped, I would have died it means.
It is very important for us to hear and know Who He is. He is the One that is our help.
The prayer God always answers from His people is the prayer of “God help me.”
Why does the Lord help?
It is who He is. It is what He is in character and personality. It is a promise and a revelation of who He wants to be on our behalf.
What is so powerful about the Lord being our help is that it is a clear identifying characteristic of God Himself. He also desires us to know Him in this way. He wants us to experience Him in this way.
So that we can continually say, “The Lord is my help.”
