If you have no other party plans on Turkey Day — or even if you do — stop by St. Michael’s Community Kitchen for the annual Thanksgiving dinner.
The yearly feast will be available from 2:45-4:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 678 School St. The meal is free and open to all who wish to attend, and organizers will also provide Grab and Go options and meal deliveries for those who are homebound.
The yearly gathering is open to everyone seeking some food and fellowship, regardless of whether or not you’ve already filled up on mashed potatoes and other sides. The traditional meal is one that feeds everyone regardless of their monetary status, and whether people have nowhere else to go or are just seeking some community engagement, they are more than welcome.
The church celebrated its centennial earlier this year, and St. Michael’s Community Kitchen is just one of its programs providing goodwill, feeding hundreds of people throughout the year with weekly meals.
Late November is hands down their biggest spread with volunteers hard at work leading up to the dinner bell with typical Thanksgiving fare — including dozens of turkeys and heaping helpings of mashed potatoes and stuffing — as well as salads and desserts to ensure a wide variety to the menu.
A special Thanksgiving mass will also be offered at 9 a.m. with everyone welcome.
