Edward Burt White
Edward Burt White, 91, was born at Cross Mountain near Maybell on Aug. 26, 1915, to Francis William and Louise Carmen (Farrell) White.
He passed away at the Colorado State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Rifle on March 27, 2007.
Edward spent most of his life in Maybell. He was born into a very large family.
He married Cherry Louise Sampson on Oct. 12, 1947, and they had three children, Linda, Lee and Steve. Edward served in the United States Army and was a member of the Odd Fellows, the VFW and the Boy Scouts of America.
He worked as a carpenter during most of his life. Edward was a devoted family man and he did volunteer work in the Rifle, Colorado community for many years.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Cherry, his son, Lee White, three brothers and three sisters.
Edward is survived by his son, Steven D. White of Rifle; daughter Linda J. Sloan of Maybell; brother, James White of Truth of Consequences, N.M.; sisters, Kathleen Wyatt of Mills, Wyo., Barbara Bright of Wheatridge, Elsie Huerman of Portland, Ore., and Nancy Southard of Yuma, Arizona; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the Rifle Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 Access Road, in Rifle at 1 p.m. Friday. There will be a viewing held from noon until the service. Interment will take place in the Valley Brook Cemetery in Breckenridge at a later date.
