Advocates Crisis Support Services is looking for on-call hotline volunteers for the domestic violence/sexual assault program. A 40-hour training is required and will be starting in November. If you are someone who wants to make a difference, call Karen at 824-9709.

The Visiting Nurse Association is seeking women ages 40 to 63 years old who have not scheduled a mammogram or women’s health exam because of income restrictions. Women who need to schedule appointments should call the VNA at 824-8233 or 871-7659.



If you served in the Vietnam or Korean wars and were exposed to Agent Orange, you need to get on the Agent Orange registry. Visit the Veteran’s Service Office at the Colorado Workforce Center or call 824-3246, ext. 23.

6:30 p.m. Dr. Jessica German of Craig Chiropractic Clinic is offering free health lectures in the board room at the Craig Fire Department. The discussion topic is “How Can I Get More Energy?” For more information or to suggest a topic idea, call 824-9279.

7 p.m. The Heartbeat Survivor Support Group, a support group for those who have been affected by suicide, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave.

Thursday, Oct. 27

10 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon The Moffat County Library hosts story-hour. The theme is orange and black.

11 a.m. Advocates-Crisis Support Services is hosting an informational meeting about victim advocate certification in Colorado in the conference room of the Steamboat Pilot & Today building, 1901 Curve Plaza in Steamboat Springs.

6:30 p.m. Moffat County School District Board of Education meets in the board room of the School Administration Building.

5:30 p.m. The RAD fundraising class Talent and Costume contest will be held until 7 p.m. in the CIS cafeteria. Admission is $2 a person. There will be a bake sale and bingo at the event, which is open to the public.

7 p.m. The Yampa Valley Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an all-female, four-part a cappella choir, rehearses every Thursdays. Everyone is welcome to attend. Call Director Denise Whitney at 824-8326.

Friday, Oct. 28

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a flu clinic for all residents at the Visiting Nurse Association. The cost is $18 for adults and free to $15 for children.

Tuesday, Nov. 1

7 a.m. Election day. All area precincts vote at the Centennial Mall until 7 p.m.

1 p.m. There will be a flu shot clinic at the Centennial Mall until 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Adult shots are $18, and children’s shots range from free to $15 on a sliding fee schedule.

6 p.m. The Greenridge Mountaineers Square Dance Club meets every Friday at Hayden Congregational Church. Lessons are offered. The cost is $5.50 a person. Call Lois Norman at 824-6773.

Saturday, Oct. 29

Overeaters Anonymous meets at 1 p.m. every Saturday at the First Congregational Church. For more information, call 629-2683.

Wednesday Nov. 2
