Crews wrap up U.S. 40 project between Kremmling and Steamboat
The Colorado Department of Transportation has completed the construction of passing lanes on U.S. Highway 40 between Kremmling and Steamboat Springs.
In the spring, some work will remain for crews who will return to complete seeding and shoulder work that will cause brief lane closures.
This passing lane project is along U.S. 40 just north of Wolford Mountain Reservoir, from mile marker 172 to mile marker 173. Capital Paving and Construction, of Englewood, is the contractor for this project.
Jason Smith, regional transportation director for the department, said the passing lanes allow “for safer transportation of commercial and freight trucks, motorists and cyclists on this busy corridor by providing a stretch of highway with space and opportunity for faster vehicles to safely pass slower moving traffic.”
“The project is part of CDOT’s 10-year plan for improvements in Grand County,” added Smith.
