The Craig Press has hired Ashley Dishman, a Craig resident, to join the newspaper’s team as a reporter.
“During the interview process, Ashley set herself apart with her deep commitment to seeing the Craig and Moffat County community succeed,” Editor Eli Pace said. “It was very clear to us that Ashley loves this community, is throughly ingrained in it and wants to see Craig do well now and into the future. Given her education, writing ability and local knowledge, Ashley should be a great fit for this role and a welcome addition for our readers.”
The Grand Old West Days signaled the start of summer for Dishman, who as a child spent her summers in Little Snake, Wyoming — which created a lasting fondness for the Craig community.
A University of Wyoming graduate, Dishman majored in political science as an undergraduate and received a master’s in English composition and literature. She did some reporting work for the Snake River Press in Baggs, Wyoming, before embarking on a multi-faceted career journey encompassing real estate, teaching and defense contracting work.
Dishman’s family roots lie deep in Craig, as her mother and grandparents reside in the area. Her knowledge of the community and the surrounding area gives her a keen perspective that will allow for a strong determination to report news that matters in Moffat County.
A self-described “unapologetic Swiftie,” Dishman moved to Craig last year along with her husband Aaron, and daughters Ellie and Izzy. After having lived in Wyoming, California and Colorado, Dishman said she is happy to have landed back at home.
“I have so many fantastic memories of Craig from my childhood and now that I am back, I’m so excited to make more with my own children and husband,” Dishman said.
