Craig man and woman sought for stealing from bodies

Authorities are looking for two people they say stole a gun, credit card and other items from the scene of a murder-suicide in Grand County.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Jerod Morris Reeves, 29, and Kimberly Mae McCaffery, 35, both of Craig, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release.

The vehicle the pair had been driving was found in Cheyenne, Wyo. It is unknown what vehicle they are currently using, according to the release.

William Ahrold, 62, and his 9-year-old son Jackson Ahrold, went missing Dec. 9 from Denver.

They were found dead Saturday in a van parked along the Colorado River.

Authorities suspect that William Ahrold shot his son before he killed himself.

Sometime between the murder-suicide and the discovery of the bodies, someone took the gun used in the shooting and other items, police said.

Today, officials announced they had identified McCaffery and Reeves after they were seen on surveillance videos using William Ahrold’s credit card.
