Craig crew helps Grand County fight small fire in Gore Canyon
Sky-Hi News
Just after 1 p.m. Thursday, Kremmling Fire and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office’s Fire Management Officer conducted an assessment on a report that Grand County Dispatch received about smoke coming from Gore Canyon west of Kremmling.
Responders determined the smoke was coming from federal land and most likely from a single tree on fire, possibly caused by a lightning strike.
They notified Craig Fire Dispatch, which is sending federal resources to further assess the situation, according to Erin Opsahl, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office communications director.
Opsahl wrote in an email that no further Grand County response was necessary.
