Craig briefs: Elkhead Reservoir releases new hours
Elkhead Reservoir will be open weekends only, staff and weather permitting.
The reservoir will be closed to boating for the season Oct. 25. The park will remain open for hunting, fishing and hiking only.

Emergency fair to have demonstrations
The 2nd annual Community Emergency Preparedness Fair is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1295 W. Ninth St.
During the fair, there will be information and demonstrations on:
• Three-month storage plans
• 72-hour kits
• Preserving important documents
• Different ideas on preserving food
• Basic First Aid and information on H1N1
Organizers also will give away a 72-hour kit, boxes of water, an emergency crank radio and cans of food.
The event is free and open to the public.

Chamber after-hours mixer is Thursday
The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is offering an after-hours business mixer, hosted by the Museum of Northwest Colorado, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the museum, 590 Yampa Ave.
There will be food, drinks and a chance to win books from the museum library.

Parrot Heads host fall festival Saturday
The Northwest Colorado Chapter of Parrot Heads is hosting “Art in the Parking Lot” from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Victory Way and Tucker Street, west of JW Snacks.
The fall festival will showcase the work of local artists and include a beer garden, food vendors, live entertainment, silent auction and other activities. The event is a fundraiser for the Parrot Heads and all proceeds will be used to support music programs in local schools and various environmental and river projects.
