Craig and Hayden experience outage

Craig and Hayden experienced a nearly one-and-a-half hour power outage on Saturday afternoon, according to Yampa Valley Electric Association spokeswoman Tammi McKenzie.

Power was cut off for 7,850 meters after an equipment failure at the Thompson Hill substation south of Craig around 2:41 p.m. Power was restored one hour and twenty-two minutes later.

“It wasn’t anticipated, there wasn’t really anything we could have done different. Equipment failed and that just happens,” McKenzie said.

McKenzie said all of YVEA’s equipment is routinely inspected and maintained.
