Code infractions raised
It could cost you more if you don’t follow the Municipal code.
The Craig City Council approved an ordinance to amend the Craig Municipal Code prescribing penalties that may be ordered by the court on its first reading during Tuesday night’s meeting.
Previously, Class A offences for violations of the Municipal Code were limited to $300 maximum fines and a maximum of 90 days in jail.
Those limits will increase to $1,000 maximum fines and a maximum of 180 days in jail, at the judge’s discretion.
The move was made to update the penalties established more than 20 years ago in the city charter. The charter was updated with voter approval in the November General Election.
The second reading for the ordinance will be at the next City Council meeting April 10.
In other action, the City Council:
- Approved an off street parking and landscape plan for 354 Barclay St. for John Raftopoulos.
- Scheduled a public hearing for April 24, to consider renewal of a conditional-use permit for a mobile home at 2495 E. Victory Way for Kevin and Tammy Villard.
- Granted a transfer of a hotel and restaurant liquor license to the Galaxy Restaurant at 524 Yampa Ave.
- Received an update from Yampa Valley Partners on event titled, Fueling Thought: Trends in Energy scheduled for May 4 at the Holiday Inn of Craig.
- Awarded a bid of $13,000 to Tri-State Equipment for the purchase of a riding rotary mower for Parks and Recreation Department.
