City of Craig and Moffat County preliminary election results

Chris Nichols, running unopposed for his second term as the mayor of Craig, has garnered 686 votes.

In a contested city council race, Joe Herod, incumbent Michelle Gottshall and Jnl Linsacum are the apparent winners defeating Shawnna Elmore and Denise Rae Kleinschnitz. As of 8 p.m., Herod had received 27.19% of the vote, (599), Gottshall 25.10%, (533) and Linsacum 23.15, (510). Kleinschitz and Elmore received 15.89% and 8.67% of the vote respectively.

The City of Craig Ballot Issue 2A, which sought the the review and increase of taxes with the option of approving a new local sales tax on retail marijuana and marijuana products, was in a tight count with 50.32% in favor and 49.68% opposed. With ballots still being counted, the initiative was too close to call at press time.



The City of Craig Boallot Question 2B, which would authorize the formation of the Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority was overwhelmingly approved with 71.29% in favor and 28.71 opposed.

The Moffat County Local Marketing District Ballot Issue 6A, seeking the renewal of the local marketing district, seemed to fail with 44.89% in favor and 55.11% opposed.
