Charlie Brown: Hamilton
I have been interested in the news about the county roads. Moffat County officials have claimed 2,000 miles of cow paths as county roads. Will they ever improve, maintain or blade these roads?
It’s not likely, because they don’t have money to maintain the roads they have now. The reason they give for claiming these roads is to make sure no part of the county could be saved from drilling, mining or off-road vehicle use. After all, this is the “the real West,” and we sure wouldn’t want our grandchildren or great-grandchildren to see what a beautiful place this was.
While they have these cow paths, they don’t seem to want County Road 57 between Meeker and Maybell, which is used. It is said to be used by energy companies. Well duh!
Now, I thought Moffat County welcomed and supported energy development. Why we support the energy industry, I don’t know, when we pay more for our energy than anyone else in the country.
