Briefs for Aug. 9
Veterans are encouraged to attend an upcoming event designed to provide information about eligibility, benefits and services.
Staffers from U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar and Rep. John Salazar’s offices, along with officials from the Grand Junction Veterans Administration Medical Center and Veteran Service officers from Moffat and Rout counties, will host Veterans Affairs Enrollment Day on Thursday at the American Legion Post No. 62, 1055 Moffat County Road 7 in Craig.
The event will last from 9 a.m. to noon.
Organizers said the enrollment event is an opportunity for Northwest Colorado veterans to enroll with the Veterans Administration without having to make a long trip to Grand Junction. Officials will be on hand Thursday to directly put veteran information into the VA network.
Veterans looking to enroll should contact Matthew McCombs in Sen. Salazar’s Grand Junction office at (970) 241-6631 or George Delahanty from Congressman Salazar’s Grand Junction office at (970) 245-7107.

Her sentencing hearing has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
