All is fair in Moffat County
It was 85 years ago today that residents of Moffat County came together to celebrate their heritage, the place they lived, put their skills to the test and hobnob with those who they hadn’t seen for months during the harvest season.
Much has changed in 85 years, but the spirit, the competitiveness and the camaraderie of the county fair remain the same.
When people think of county fairs, they often think of agriculture-related activities and while there will be plenty of those events, residents will be able to enjoy so much more this year.
Along with livestock reviews, canning and other home-making projects up for review, there will be an exhibition of celebrity sumo wrestling in which participants don suits that give them the girth to engage in the hand-to-hand combat.
Rumor has that some special local celebrities will be participating in the event that area residents will not want to miss.
The time-honored parade will be at 10 a.m. Saturday this year as kind of a kick-off for the event rather than at the last weekend of the event.
We encourage residents to come out and celebrate what is Moffat County. See something new. Get reacquainted with your neighbor and have a good,
safe time.
