Craig resident, Michael Alan Elzey, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at his home in Craig. He was 78. A funeral service honoring Mike’s life was held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Grant Mortuary Chapel. Michael Alan Elzey was born the son of Fred Melville and Martha Daphine (Bisel) Elzey on March 16, 1946 in Portland, Indiana. Michael worked as a manager of a sheet metal shop for many years. It was a job that he truly loved! In his spare time, his favorite hobby was shooting guns and riding his beloved motorcycle. More importantly, he was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Mike is survived by his wife of 24 years, Tracy Marie Sheldon-Elzey of Craig; four children: Matthew Brian Sheldon and wife Amanda Rae, Angela Dawn Frenzel and husband Jeffrey Walter, Joshua Eric Garbani and Deana Michelle Evans and husband Donald Lee; and one brother, Fred (Sophia) Melville Elzey. Mike is further survived by 10 grandchildren: Matthew “Parker”, Haisley Rebecca, Rylan Michael Adam, Alex Jeffrey, Kolton Chase, Bella Grace, Nicholas Tate, Brooklyn Elizabeth, Bryce Jeff, Shelby Leann and one grandson on the way; and 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden William and Ivy Rose. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Mike’s memory to the Moffat County Humane Society in care of Grant Mortuary.
