Kathleen Ann Lynn was born on February 6, 1943 to Robert & Jewell Lynn at Upper Big Gulch in western Moffat County. Soon after she was born, Jewell divorced Robert and Kathie was raised by a lot of the Duzik family. Jewell married Jack Callahan when Kathie was about 3 and they lived at the old Duzik homestead for a few years. Jack worked for the R.E.A. and traveled most of Colorado and Wyoming.
Kathie finished her high school at Moffat County High School with the class of 1961. She started nursing training but was interrupted by getting married to Robert Lessor and started a family with her first daughter, Victoria Jean, being born in November of ’62 then twin girls, Bonnie Lee and Connie Dee born November of ’64.
She and Robert were divorced in the spring of ’74. She then married James Butts in January of ’75. To that union, she gave birth to 3 more beautiful children, Cody James in October of ’76, Sheela LaJewel in June of ’79 and Travis James in February of ’83.
Kathie worked at several spots around Craig including The Golden Cavey Bar and Restaurant, The Cossgriff, J.C. Penny’s, then she served at the Moffat County High School Hot Lunch program for about 20 years where she was known affectionately as “Momma Butts”.
She was an avid bowler, and Slow Pitch Softball player and was a good at losing golf balls at the local course. In her younger years, she enjoyed barrel racing. She had legendary stories from town, work, Browns Park, all the while accomplishing a wealth of friends along the journey.
She always enjoyed family ‘Get Togethers’ with all the family including the Duziks, Faggs, Gerbers, Kawcaks, and Jones. She was a legend. The funnest most loving sweet girl. Raise a glass of wine, just don’t set it down. The Wine game doesn’t end here.
Kathie is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Butts; daughters: Victoria Angelo of Albuquerque, NM, Connie Falcon of Denver, CO, Bonnie Lessor of Texas and Sheela (Thom) Baker of Kelseyville, CA; and one son, Jimmy (Laura) Watts of TN. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by sons, Cody James and Travis James; her parents, Jack & Jewell Callahan and Robert Lynn; granddaughter, Blaire; and grandson, Adan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Kathie’s memory to the American Alzheimer’s Association in care of Grant Mortuary.
