Norman

November 26, 1922 – August 19, 2020

Howard “Gale” Norman was born November 26th 1922 in the railroad house of Bob and Lulu Counts in Craig CO. Ten days later his parents, Howard C, and Emily (Rufenacht) Norman, took him to their homestead on Wantland Gulch, by horse and sleigh.

When Gale was two they moved to Eads CO in a horse drawn wagon. He started school there before returning to the homestead in CO. where he attended country school. He stayed with Leo and Ruth Dunn family, who were already considered his family, while attending Craig High School.

Gale was inducted into the army June 1943. When Gale was in transit to Fort Meade to be shipped to Italy, He spent 8 days at home, where he was married to Lois Margaret Whicker, on September 28th 1944.

Gale worked many jobs, but his mainstays were truck driving and farming. He farmed until he was in his 90’s. He also owned the Allis Chalmers dealership for a few years.

Gale attended the First Christian Church of Craig. He was a member of Christian Endeavor in high school. Served as a deacon, elder, Sunday school and bible study instructor. He also helped start churches in Vernal Utah, Rock Springs, and Rawlins WY.

Gale is survived by his children. Margaret, (Mike) Duzik, Frank, Shayne, Charlotte, and Geoffry. Marie, (Joe) Shaffer. David, and Daniel. Ruth (Beryl) Wright, Emma, Flint, and Keith Haskins. Richard (Andrea) Norman. Heather, Jessica, and Cody. Former son-in-law Dan Haskins. 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lois. Parents Howard, and Emily. Brothers Francis, and Forrest (Bud) Norman. And Grandson Trent Haskins.
