Obituary: Donald “Don” Anderson
November 29, 1963 – January 14, 2026
Donald Anderson, a devoted family man, adventurous spirit, Mason, Rotary member, and respected local business owner, passed away peacefully at his home in Edwards, Colorado, on January 14, 2026. Don was 62 years old.
Born on November 29, 1963, in Kennewick, Washington, Don attended the College of Idaho where he double majored in business and economics. Don eventually found his home and his calling in the Colorado mountains.
A dedicated member of the Masonic fraternity, Don began his journey through the sponsorship of Ed Heckman, with Greenleaf Lodge #169, where he was initiated in 1999 and raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason in 2001. After moving to Eagle, Colorado, Don became an affiliated member of Castle Lodge #122 in 2006, serving as Worshipful Master in 2014 and continuing his service as Junior Deacon at the time of his passing.
A visionary businessman, Don purchased Vail Electronics in 2006, transforming it into Vail Alarm (dba Vail Electronics and Intermountain Systems). In 2012, he expanded the firm to include fire sprinkler systems, reflecting his passion for life safety in the mountain communities. His work brought him into close partnership with Fire Marshals throughout Eagle and Summit Counties, where he was widely respected for his professionalism. Don was a devoted service provider to his clients and was deeply appreciated by his employees for his supportive leadership.
To those who knew him, Don was far more than a businessman; he was a “gentle giant” of character. Don was a truly amazing friend who lived by a simple code of kindness and a helping hand. Whether it was a supportive word during a tough time or a literal helping hand with a project, Don was always there. Don had a rare ability to show up exactly when people needed him most, always seeking to make someone’s day just a little bit brighter.
Don lived life to the fullest under the Colorado sky. Don was an avid outdoorsman that included activities like surfing in Costa Rica, hiking volcanoes, hunting, fishing while navigating a raft down numerous rivers, deep sea fishing, snowboarding, and skiing. When Don wasn’t playing in the great outdoors, he was likely chasing the sound of a melody. Don was a passionate lover of live music; it didn’t matter the genre or the venue—if there was a band playing, Don was there to listen, appreciate, and soak in the performance.
Above all his pursuits, Don’s greatest achievement was his family, who he was devoted to. Don was the beloved husband of Annette for 33 years and a proud, guiding light to his children, Charley (27) and Alyssa (24). Don also leaves behind his son, Dustin (38), and his cherished granddaughter, Victoria (11), who brought him immense pride and joy.
In addition to his wife and children, Don is survived by his two sisters and their families, with whom he shared a close and loving bond: Deb and Greg Bergam and Deb’s daughters, Misty, Mindy, and Raquel; and Donna and John Hayes and Donna’s daughters, Kyla and Keonna. Don was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bud and Claudine Anderson and his partner in crime, his beloved mother-in- law Cordy.
Service Information: A memorial service will be held on Wednesday Jan 21st at 3pm at the Beaver Creek Chapel. In the spirit of Don’s helpful nature, the family encourages you to wear something blue or a band T-shirt to the memorial, offer a kind word or a helping hand to someone in need today. In lieu of flowers, take an outdoor excursion with your family and think of Don.
