Connie Rae Osborne, 80, of Craig, Colorado passed away peacefully at home in Craig, on June 17, 2025. Connie was born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 20, 1945 for Ray and Eva Davis. Ray was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War 2 at the time of birth. Shortly after the birth, Eva and Connie returned to Salt Lake City, Utah, which was the traditional home of both the parents and their extended families. Another child was born to Ray and Eva, Dianne Davis.
Dianne had no children, and as an adult preceded Connie in death.
Connie and Dianne attended several schools in Salt Lake City and surrounding area. Connie completed her education and married. The marriage was not successful in the long term, but did result in three wonderful children, Troy Pelton, Mitch Pelton and Ronda Pelton who all resided with Connie.
Connie’s parents separated and had successful long term second marriages. The second marriage of Ray was to Esther Davis of the Salt Lake City area. They had five children, Wayne Davis who lost his life while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Robert Davis, Ray Davis, Barbara Anne Davis, and Kenneth Davis. All are considered to be close brothers and sister with Connie and Dianne. Esther was a loving, kind second mother to Connie and Dianne. Both Ray and Esther have preceded Connie in death.
Eve’s second marriage was to William Dean Hansen, a lifelong resident of the Salt Lake City area, who served in the U.S. Army during World War Il. This marriage produced three children, Penny Hansen, Jeff Hansen, and Jill Hansen who are considered to be closer than half sisters and brother to Connie and Dianne. Jill Hansen preceded Connie in death.
Connie moved to Westminster, Colorado with her three children in March of 1970. In the fall of 1970 Connie met Jim Osborne who was attending law school at the University of Denver. Their relationship developed and they married on May 20, 1972 approximately a month before Jim graduated law school. After graduation Jim was employed by a law firm in Arvada and Connie continued working for Sperry New Holland equipment. Both Connie and Jim wanted to
move to a smaller rural town. In December 1974 Jim moved to Craig to work with a local attorney, and Connie, Troy, Mitchell and Ronda made the move to Craig in March 1974. On June 16, 1976 Connie and Jim were blessed with the birth of their son, Aaron J. Osborne who weighed 1 pounds 9 ounces. Relieved mother, proud father.
Jim started his own office as a sole practitioner in Craig. Connie worked with Jim in the office for over 45 years in all support facets as secretary, proof reader, trial and juror selection assistant, bookkeeping & accounting / appointment setting / library matters / drafting editor/office manager and other matters. She enjoyed working in the office, and found satisfaction in meeting new people and assisting Jim in helping clients and friends in resolving issues and matters that may arise in life. Connie was sometimes asked how she and Jim could work together all day at the office and then go home together. Her answer was “I don’t know, it just seems to work for us”. Jim agrees, and appreciates this time together as well as their lives together.
A great joy for Connie was any time spent with her children and their families and her extended family.
The immediate family consists as follows:
(1) Troy and Deneen have one child Tori Pelton who has a daughter “Taya”, and Brandi who has three children Michael, Braden and Brynn.
(2) Mitch and Kathy have Mitch’s daughter Tara Pelton;
(3) Rhonda, who is deceased, had one child, Christopher James whose wife is Collette;
(4) Aaron and Aubrey have two children, Evelyn and Emily.
Connie enjoyed a variety of activities which included skiing which she enjoyed growing up in Utah as well as here at Steamboat Springs and Loveland Basin; horseback riding as a child in Utah, and here in Moffat County and forays to Black Mountain and Rabbit Ears on her horse “Sweetie Pie”; fishing; travel and beaches; crossword puzzles; scenic drives; and being with friends and family.
Connie was a wonderful person, mother, grandmother, and wife. A smile from her would light up your day.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie’s memory should be made to your favorite charity or public assistance entity.
