Obituary: Calvin Johnson

Calvin Pierre Johnson passed into the glorious presence of our LORD on January 20, 2024 at the age of 73. In recent years Calvin had lived in assisted living centers in Pueblo, Colorado. He died with hospice comfort care in the Atlas Care Center of Pueblo, Colorado.
Calvin was born as the first child to Pierre and Kaye Johnson on October 12, 1950. He was born in his grandparent’s house in Craig, Colorado.
Calvin graduated from Moffat County High School in Craig in 1968 with honors and with a scholarship. In high school Calvin played the tuba in his school band. He wrestled and he bowled. He enjoyed hunting both deer and arrowheads. He also enjoyed fishing, go-carts, dirt bike riding, archery, and boy scouts. While in high school Calvin joined the Navigators which is a Christian international nondenominational discipleship Bible organization and through the Navigators program, he memorized many Scriptures.
After high school Calvin went to Colorado State University from which he graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in 1972 and was in the top part of his class.
He married Lucy Homan whom he met in Fort Collins. Lucy raised their son, Quin Johnson.
Calvin is survived by his son Quin Johnson and Quin’s wife, Becky; by two grandchildren Collette and Adam Johnson; by his mother Mary Kaye Johnson; by his former wife, Lucy Homan; by his sister Donnita Kaye Van Den Bos and her husband, Allan; and by seven nieces and nephews. Calvin is also survived by several aunts: Ardith, Treava, Trudy, and Ellen; and by numerous cousins.
A short 2:30 P.M. graveside memorial service is planned for Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Johnson-VanDenBos family cemetery north of Craig, Colorado. The address is 2050 CR-103, Craig, CO 81625.
