Craig’s Senior Social Center will host an Older Adult Resource Expo from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Yampa Building, 775 Yampa Ave.

The event will offer booths, volunteer opportunities, and health and wellness information for area senior citizens, as well as food and prizes.

“Our community older adult service and resource organizations want to bring as much information to the public as possible,” said Rebekah Greenwood, Senior Social Center director. “In Moffat County, being considered a frontier region, it is sometimes hard to find resources needed and available. We are bringing resources together to educate and help navigate these services. Both older adults, family members and community members can benefit by learning about these services.”

Numerous agencies will be available to provide more details on their services.

• Northwest Colorado Health — Cardiovascular screenings; Aging Well program; Dental, Home Health & Hospice program; assisted living at The Haven

• Memorial Regional Health & The Health Partnership — Care coordinators providing information and connections to resources

• Mind Springs Health — Mental health information and health screenings

• Craig Chamber of Commerce — Information on recreation, senior discount fishing and park passes, and discount disability and/or low-income licenses and passes

• Northwest Colorado Center for Independence — Information on Social Security Disability, SSI, Transportation and other resources

• Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association — Health information

• Community Budget Center — Information on programs including Leap

• Integrated Community — Information

• Community Kitchen — Program information and volunteer opportunities

• Senior Social Center — Information on exercise, events, social programs, art classes, the Senior Outreach Program, Circle Talk support group, and more

Additional information and services will be available for Medicare, Medicaid, long-term care, senior equipment, hearing and vision, food assistance, and more.

Organizers are also encouraging seniors and others to pursue volunteer opportunities with outlets such as CASA, Advocates, Love Inc, Community Garden, Community Kitchen, hospice, MRH, SOS, VA, for lawn care, spring cleaning, and more.

Expo organizers will also feature numerous guest speakers on the north side of the Yampa building throughout the afternoon.
